Janssen Products for Healthy Sensitive Skin

Posted by Matthew Eng on

Sensitive skin is becoming more and more common, even in well-taken care of, healthy individuals. A big reason for this is that at this point in history, our skin is exposed to more environmental and chemical irritants than ever before. Our skin doesn’t recognize these pollutants and works overtime to protect itself, often developing more sensitivity in the process. Other factors that can contribute to sensitive skin are dry weather, allergies, excessive exfoliation, or skin conditions, such as eczema. Our goal is to soothe the irritants while providing a protective barrier to prevent further damage. Taking care of ourselves and focusing on our inner health is a big step we can take to help our body do the best job it can to protect itself. A little help from the outside doesn’t hurt though! Here are a few tips to help.

  1. Always remove your makeup. This step is especially important for sensitive skin. Makeup left on your skin can cause irritation, breakouts, and clogged pores. It will also accelerate the aging process. Removing your makeup will prevent bacteria growth and prime your face for the next steps of your skincare routine. Try our Micellar Skin Tonic to remove all traces of makeup while adding essential hydration.

  1. Use serums that are developed for sensitive skin. Finding products that soothe and correct while protecting your skin can be a challenge. Some natural ingredients can be too potent and irritate your skin more, while some “sensitive” skin lines contain harmful synthetic ingredients. Look for products with calming botanical additions. Ingredients such as Allantoin, Bisabolol, Vitamin E, and Hyaluronic Acid will provide an extra layer of protection and help your skin be the best it can be! Try our Anti-Pollution Cream and Pro Immune Serum before applying moisturizer for maximum benefits. The anti-pollution cream is formulated to protect and strengthen your skin’s natural barrier with plant-based antioxidants. The pro immune serum stabilizes your skin’s immune cells to help them combat outside stress, such as environmental factors and free radicals.

  1. Use sun protection. We all know that sun protection is important, but did you know that the type of sun protection can make a difference too? Chemical sunscreens are absorbed into the skin and can contain potentially harmful chemicals. They also break down after being exposed to UV rays for a while. Mineral sunscreens, on the other hand, don’t break down in the sun. They are minerals that are not absorbed by the skin and provide effective broad-spectrum protection. Try our Optimal Tinted Complexion Cream. It contains iron oxides and titanium dioxide for effective mechanical sun protection throughout your day!

  1. Moisturize. Almost all of our products are formulated to be as hydrating as possible, but it is still important to seal all of your skincare in with a good moisturizer. Using it at night is especially effective because it gives your skin a chance to renew itself and rest. Try our Night Replenisher, which is rich in hydrating oils and vitamins.

Janssen Collections for Fabulous Fall Skin

Posted by Matthew Eng on

Much too soon, summer is waving goodbye as the sweaters and pumpkin treats make their appearance once again. As the humidity dips in the air, this is the perfect time to start preparing your skin for the harsher winter months. Drier air means that the outer layer of your skin can get damaged more easily, but there are a few things you can do to keep it balanced as the weather shifts. Remember, a little bit of prevention goes a long way!

  1. Gentle exfoliation. While very important and effective when used properly, it can be tempting to over-exfoliate as skin shows more signs of dryness. There are two types of exfoliation: physical and chemical. Whichever one you use, make sure to be gentle so that you just remove the very top layer of dead skin cells. Aggressive exfoliation can lead to micro-abrasions in your skin that leave it open to bacteria and other irritants. For physical exfoliation, try our Intensive Face Scrub, made with finely ground peach granules. For chemical exfoliation, try our Brightening Exfoliator or our Skin Refining Enzyme Peel.

  1. Hydration. When the winds pick up, the furnaces kick on and the wood stoves are lit. Cozy fall is right around the corner! Unfortunately, the wind and dry heat also suck the moisture from our skin so much faster! Stay ahead of the game by switching to a richer moisturizer now. For more mature skin, try our Rich Recovery Cream, and for more sensitive skin, try the Night Replenisher. For the ultimate luxurious experience, try our Night Cream, with colloidal platinum, silk acacia extract, lipid complex and more. We promise you will feel pampered and immediately refreshed!

  1. Don’t slow down on sunscreen. Just because the sun is filtered through the beautiful yellow and orange trees instead of beaming down on us with the summertime intensity doesn’t mean that it is doing any less damage to our skin. Sun protection is just as important in the fall (and winter!) as it is during the summer months. Our Face Guard uses a mineral shield rather than a chemical sunscreen to protect your skin from the harsh UV rays, no matter what time of year it is.

  1. Take extra care with certain areas. Some skin is thinner and more sensitive, such as the skin under our eyes, on our eyelids, and our lips. Look for products that are specially made for these areas, and that focus on hydration! Try our Rich Eye Contour Cream around the delicate eye area. With oat extract, macadamia nut oil, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin A, this lightweight cream works hard to hydrate all day or all night long! Our Tricare Eye Cream shares those benefits, but is also formulated for mature skin, and contains ingredients that help combat fine lines and wrinkles.

With the right care, and a couple of easy prevention steps, you can assure that your skin will enjoy the fall season as much as you do!

Janssen Cosmetics and Dry Skin

Posted by Bold Commerce on

Dry skin is described as a skin condition that contains a low amount of hydration and is often marked by an uncomfortable tightness, itchy, and scaly sensation. Although dry skin has numerous causes, it isn’t usually serious and can be alleviated with the right products.

Those who suffer from dry skin will often notice scaling, flaking, irritation, and cracking and one of the main causes of dry skin is low moisture in the air or washing in water that is too hot. Dryness can also be caused by health-related issues, as well as aging and other environmental factors, such as overexposure to the sun.

Those with mature skin or demanding skin will often find dryness to be a common problem when it comes to skin-related issues. Someone who has dry skin can also experience sensitive skin as the skin loses the protective layering needed to lubricate and protect the skin. The good news is that with the right skin care, healthy, hydrated skin is just a product away. Here are some ways that Janssen Cosmetics can help steer you in the right direction to a more hydrated complexion.

Heal and Protect

One of the biggest culprits of dry skin is overexposure to UVA/UVB radiation. Although some sun rays has been proven to be beneficial, helping to trigger the development of vitamin D in the body, too much sun can lead to chapped, burning, peeling, itchy red skin and premature aging, which is why our Sun Shield is a great way to moisturize and protect the skin. If you like sunbathing, After Sun Lotion cools, soothes and nourishes your skin with natural oils.

If you want to go a bit deeper, Vita Care Deluxe Ceramide cream works wonders for those with extremely dry skin, which helps to rebuild lipids that have been lost and improves the appearance of rough skin. If you are already experiencing age spots, and an uneven skin tone, our  Vitaforce C Cream  stimulates collagen and elastin production and helps brighten the skin for an even, more  youthful  tone.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

It’s so important to hydrate the skin. So much so that without hydration, your skin would become scaly, crusty, and unsightly. If you have dry skin, hydration is especially important since you don’t receive adequate moisture to the skin. Hydration can be obtained in many ways, such as getting enough water, a great way to ensure that your cells are going to get the nutrients they need.  Exercise is another great way to get circulation going.

Our Hydrating Skin Complex works deep within the layers of the skin to hydrate from  within, smooth wrinkling caused by dryness, and improves the overall feel, structure and radiance of the skin. Then you may top that with the Caviar Luxury Cream, which is like black gold for the skin, increasing cell turnover, protecting the skin from free radicals, and inspires smoother skin.

Rejuvenate and Illuminate

If your dry skin is causing a dull complexion, sometimes, all you need is a bit of exfoliation. Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells that are in the way of revealing fresh, vibrant skin. Exfoliants come in many forms such as a scrub, which often contains tiny granules to slough away depleted skin, as found in our Brightening Exfoliator. Other forms are contained in the form of a gentle peel, such as our Bio-Fruit Gel Exfoliator, which helps increase cell turnover by gently peeling away the top layer  of the skin. This action is a non-abrasive way of improving the skin’s moisture content, leading to brighter, softer complexion.

Scrubs and peels are a great way to get to the true, radiant you and should always be performed after washing your skin with a great cleanser, such as with our Multi-Action Cleansing Balm, which can also be used as a makeup remover, SOS balm for relieving dry skin spots, and as a moisturizing mask. Prepping the skin prior to exfoliation helps to soften and wash away dirt and grime so that the product will work it’s best
