We pioneered Janssen Cosmetics with the coined term cosmeceuticals in mind because our state-of-the-art laboratories in Aachen, Germany formulate our collections that are engineered to combat prevalent skin problems and concerns that plague each skin type.

Meticulous research has allowed us to put together effective solutions that can address common symptoms associated with each profile--we have paired our recommendations with each of the common issues:

Acne-Prone and Oily Skin

Acne has many different forms and can show up in different areas of the body. The most common acne formed is a pustule and is often the form which the majority refer to when talking about acne. Other forms of acne are as listed:
  • Comedones also known as whiteheads and blackheads
  • Papules that are small, raised bumps
  • Pustules that are larger and more inflamed whiteheads
  • Nodules or bumps that remain below the skin and are solid and large
  • Cysts which are painful, pus-filled lumps beneath the skin
Acne is one of the most prevalent skin-care problems for people of all ages from all walks of life. Although often associated with teens and the onset of puberty, it can happen to anyone of any age. Acne is a skin disorder that occurs when the hair follicles become clogged with dead skin cells and oil. This allows the growth of the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) to flourish inside the follicle which leads to inflammation. Finally, the resultant product would be what we call a pimple.

How to Address Acne

There are several treatments of acnes with majority of them being topical creams and gels applied at the surface of the skin. Here at Janssen’s Cosmetics, we understand the debilitating effects that acne can have on your self-esteem. As such, our Oily Skin line which is highly effective against acne and blackheads was developed to balance the harmony of the skin. Enriched with the anti-sebum active substance complex which is filled with anti-oxidants like oleanolic acid, you can be assured that immediate noticeable improvements will be made to your skin.

Rosacea, Redness and Blemishes

Rosacea is a skin condition which begins slowly with seasonal worsening of redness that can appear from the cheeks to the nose. If left untreated, rosacea almost always worsens. Anyone can be affected by rosacea but mostly lighter skinned women would be plagued by this condition.

How to Address Rosacea

Rosacea is characterized by red flushing over the cheeks and nose with consistent and random extreme skin sensitivity. The bumps on the skin are often acne-like though they do not have the same composition as acne.

The good news however, is that rosacea can be combatted with gentle skin-care products along with topical prescription of medications and light-emitting treatments. Our All Skin line along with the Sensitive Skin line ensures that the ingredients used leads to the strengthening of your skin barrier while at the same time calming your symptoms of redness and swellings. Ingredients used as always have been extensively researched on and chosen to ensure the alleviation of your symptoms so that you can have visibly smoother and glowing skin.

Pre-Maturely Aging Skin

Spider veins that may appear on the cheeks and along the jaw lines, skin discoloration, fine wrinkles that appear when the face is stretched are examples of pre-maturely aging skin. Blotchy complexion can also be an indicator of premature aging skin where blotches of red skin are seen around the temples and cheeks.

How to Address

Pre-maturely Aging Skin can be addressed by revitalizing your skin with products containing nutrient rich and collagen-stimulating ingredients. That is why here at Janssen Cosmetics, we understand the demand and attention that pre-maturely again skin requires. Our Demanding Skin line implements the system to supply highly-active oat protein and vitamins to your skin in order to fortify its defense against aging. The highly penetrative ingredients are able to burrow into the skin and replenish the moisture deposits, stabilizing and replenishing the protective barrier of the skin. Your skin will be left looking dewy and resplendent, an envy among your friends.

Hyper-pigmentation, Uneven Skin Tones and Sun Damage

All of us regardless of our race would struggle with some form of hyperpigmentation or uneven skin tones at some point in our life. Our skin may appear lighter or darker at specific areas of our face, or even patches of discoloration and freckling.

Why does hyper-pigmentation occur?

Skin pigmentation problems occur when the body produces either too much or too little of melanin. Melanin which is the pigment found in skin produced by specific cells is triggered by an enzyme which ultimately gives us the colour of our skin, eyes and hair. The production of melanin becomes defective when you chronically expose yourself to the sun unprotected or due to hormones.

Melanin however, does provide sun protection by absorbing the sun’s ultraviolet light which explains why darker skin colors are less prone to sunburn and damage.

Why does Sun Damage Occur?

After countless of research made showing repeated unprotected sun exposure leading to DNA damage causing skin cancer, it is imperative that we apply some sort of sun protection on our skin at all times. Myths such as not getting sun damaged on a cloudy day or during winter have all been debunked and there is nothing stopping you from putting on some sort of protection. The destruction of elastin and collagen along with discoloration to the skin are all common effects of prolonged sun damage so remember to include sun protection in your skin care regime today.

How to address hyper-pigmentation, sun damage and uneven skin tones

Sun screen should be applied liberally if you are one to spend a majority of your time in the outdoors. Having adequate sleep and a healthy lifestyle would also aid in keeping the skin clear and healthy. Here at Janssen Cosmetic, our Face Guard with active cell protection ensures that your skin is fully protected from the harmful rays of the sun. Coupled with the Trend Edition skincare line which promotes youthful skin with its high lipid content and cell regenerative substances, it protects against hyper-pigmentation and ensures your skin cells live longer and healthier.

Large Pores

One of the most stubborn and difficult to treat skincare problem is the appearance of enlarged pores. Although the extend to how much you can reduce your pore size is limited, using the right products will speed up this process. Enlarged pores occur when the hormones that regulate the oil glands produces far too much oil, clogging the pores. When the pores become clogged, it makes it difficult for oil to flow freely resulting in an enlarged pore. Despite the pore being larger, the oil can still be trapped within the skin cells and form a blackhead when the end of the clogged pore is exposed to air.

How to Address

Enlarged pores are very simply pores that are larger and can be seen visibly, often times accompanied by blackheads. In order to reduce or avoid getting enlarged pores, it is imperative to stop using skincare that causes your pore to clog or your oil glands to produce more oil. Products that irritate the skin and stimulates more oil production is also a big no-no.

The Oily Skin line here at Janssen’s cosmetics are non-comedogenic and pore-reducing, infused with the most amount of anti-oxidants to ensure your enlarged pores are reduced significantly. Obtained from leave of the olive, the active anti-sebum substance would target your enlarged pores and ensure an immediate improvement in your profile if used daily. Eye Zone Issues

The eye area being one of the most delicate areas of the face is one of the first places to display signs of aging and plays a pivotal role in your confidence as you take on the world. Common eye zone issues include eye bags, wrinkles forming along the edges of the eyes especially when stretched, dryness and malia (small, white bumps found at the under eye area).

How to address them?

It is important to ensure that the eye zone area is protected from the sun with an SPF cream along with a moisturiser. That being said, having a moisturiser is not necessary if the area around your eye is not dry. Whether you decide to adopt an eye-care product or a moisturiser, make sure that the product contains skin-repairing ingredients to fight wrinkles and stimulate collagen production to retain your youthful glow. Here at Janssen Cosmetics, our eye care gel and lotion from the various skin care line suitable for the different types of skin ensures that you are giving the very best to your skin. The eye care gels contain vitamins and minerals to prevent the swelling and dark rings around your eyes, along with moisture retaining ingredients to smooth wrinkles around the sensitive eye area. Smile with confidence as your wrinkles and lines diminish around your eye zone with Janssen Cosmetics.

Sagging skin

Sagging skin or the lack of firmness in the skin is often associated with aging and sun damaged skin. Simply put, the characteristics include the loss of elasticity or firmness in the skin or the drooping of skin which are commonly found around the jawline and cheeks.

As we age, the elastin in our skin becomes damaged and the skin begins to sag. To make it worse, older skin makes almost negligible amount of elastin resulting in the loss of firmness around the skin. Despite products on the market that claim they are able to tighten your skin, this effect is merely temporary and does not produce a long lasting effect. As such, the only true defence we have is the use of potent antioxidants and skin repairing ingredients that stimulate the growth of collagen.
