Why is My Skin So Sensitive?

Posted by Opus Int. on

Is your skin red and/or itchy?

Do you have a lot of skin bumps or rashes?

Does your skin sting or burn a lot?

Then you have sensitive skin.

If you’re wondering why it happens, worry not! Below, we’ll answer what you’ve been asking for a long time: “Why is my skin so sensitive?”

  1. You Have Been Exposed to Harmful Environmental Conditions

While the skin is made to protect the body from the environment, exposure to the following conditions can make it more sensitive:

  • Excessive sunlight
  • Strong winds
  • Intense heat or cold

These can cause excessive dryness or injury, compromise the skin, and make it prone to irritation.

  1. You Suffer From a Skin Condition

The following disorders or allergic reactions can trigger skin sensitivity:

  • Eczema or atopic dermatitis, a condition that makes skin swollen and rough
  • Rosacea, an inflammatory disease that causes skin redness and rashes
  • Allergic contact dermatitis, a condition that results from the use of a particular substance
  1. Your Genetics Are To Blame

Some people are more predisposed to have easily-irritated skin. So if you have fair skin or red hair, you’re more likely to ask the question, “Why is my skin so sensitive?”

  1. You Are Using the Wrong Product

If you have reactive skin, using the wrong product can damage your skin’s outer layer and irritate it further. Here are some common offenders that you need to avoid:

  • Alpha-hydroxy acids such as glycolic acid
  • Granulated scrubs
  • Chemical sunscreens containing Oxybenzone or Avobenzone
  1. You’re Going Overboard With Your Skincare Routine

As Mark Twain puts it, “Too much of something is bad.” This is especially true if you have sensitive skin.

For one, using several products all at once means you’re exposing your skin to more ingredients. The more components you apply, the higher the chance that something will irritate your skin.

Furthermore, you may end up applying two (or more) potent ingredients that damage the skin when used together (i.e., Retinol/Retinoid and Alpha Hydroxy Acid).

What to Do

If you’re not careful, your actions will trigger your skin sensitivity. So to keep the redness, itchiness, and irritation away, remember to follow these tips:

  • Avoid environmental extremes, such as excessive winds, heat, or cold
  • Use sunscreen regularly
  • Stay away from your eczema or rosacea triggers
  • Wear fabrics that don’t irritate the skin, such as cotton, silk, rayon, or linen
  • Eat well

More importantly, make it a point to use products specially formulated for sensitive skin. You can get these - and more - at Janssen Cosmetics.

How to Remove Dark Spots on Face Fast

Posted by Opus Int. on

UV exposure, inflammation, rashes, and hormonal changes can result in dark spots on your face. You need not worry, though, for we can help you get rid of them immediately. All you just need to do is follow our five tips on how to remove dark spots on face fast.

  1. Get Some Vitamin C

Vitamin C does not only boost your immunity - it can help fade those pesky dark spots too.

Vitamin C helps lighten pigmented areas, particularly those caused by inflammation and sun exposure. As an antioxidant, it can help protect your skin from free radicals, substances that cause oxidative stress and discoloration/spotting.

  1. Use Retinol

Retinoids work to remove your dark spots by hastening skin turnover. In other words, they help shed dead, pigmented skin cells - to make way for new cells.

Fun fact: retinol is not only effective in removing dark spots on the face, but it can help lessen acne breakouts as well.

  1. Apply Some Acids

The term acid may sound alarming, but it’s actually good for your face - especially if you want your dark spots to disappear.

Alpha hydroxy acids or AHAs, such as Glycolic Acid, Mandelic Acid, and Lactic Acid, exfoliate the skin to lighten noticeable discoloration.

Beta hydroxy acids, or BHAs, meanwhile, work to exfoliate the skin and reduce inflammation at the same time. As such, it’s recommended for those who suffer from acne and inflammation-driven skin discoloration.

Another type of acid, kojic, is excellent for people who suffer from brown patches called melasma. This antioxidant, extracted from fungi, has been proven effective in lightening dark spots and brightening the skin.

  1. Consider Arbutin

If you’re looking for a gentle way how to remove dark spots on face fast, then go for arbutin. It works to inhibit tyrosinase, an enzyme that is necessary for the skin pigmentation process.

As a ‘natural’ version of the harsh hydroquinone, it’s more suitable for those whose skins react badly with the latter.

  1. Go For Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a plant that works many wonders on the skin. Such is made possible by its component aloesin, which helps lighten dark spots. It also helps inhibit the production of melanin, a pigment that, when in excess, causes skin discoloration.

The Takeaway

If you want to remove dark spots on face fast, all you need to do is use either retinol, vitamin C, acids, arbutin, or aloe vera.

Janssen Cosmetics offers many of these solutions for pigmented skin. Click here to view our extensive array of effective spot lightening products.

What Makes Janssen Stand out from the Competition

Posted by Opus Int. on

The success of a skincare brand depends both on profitability and recognition. Being a skincare entrepreneur can be challenging when you're just starting.

The constant emergence and demise of beauty startups can also be discouraging. If you want to stand out in today's saturated beauty market, you have to be at the top of your game.

Unlike conventional care products on the market, Janssen cosmetics can do much more. Our products inspire from the first use and deliver results that go beyond superficial skin care.

Skin types differ, and therefore skin needs vary from person to person. Skin care must be tailored to the individual's skin type, whether it is dry, sensitive, or impure. We must therefore treat our skin as individually as we treat our dry, sensitive, or oily impure skin.

An optimal care system from Janssen takes into account the needs of each part of our skin. In addition, all the care products in a series work perfectly together.

The first step to achieving immediate results is always to cleanse your face. When you have oily or impure skin, you should use a fluid or washing gel rather than cleansing milk with soothing ingredients from Janssen.

A day cream and a night cream are also essentials. Your skin will be hydrated and protected from harmful environmental factors with the day cream. We use richer night creams to regenerate the skin.

What makes Janssen Stand out from the Competition

1. Concentrate on niche markets

Many brands target a broad audience, which means that their products are aimed at a diverse group of people. Janssen goes against the grain and targets a niche market.

The best way to distinguish your brand from the competition is to appeal to a niche market of consumers that might not be interested in your brand.

A niche consumer group might include:

  • Medical professionals
  • Animal lovers
  • Those with certain skin conditions
  • Travel enthusiasts
  • Allergy sufferers

2. Using captivating visuals

The beauty industry is all about visuals. Visually appealing logos, website designs, product photos, and social media posts attract customers. Janssen creates stunning visuals that sets them apart from other beauty brands. But how do they do that?

Some suggestions are as follows:

  • Using illustrations in your graphics
  • Thinking of unique ways to photograph products
  • Using unusual color schemes
  • Considering metallic elements
  • Recruiting models who have unique appearances

3. Tell a unique story

The story of how every beauty brand got started is the same. After hearing so many backstories, consumers have become more interested in how you came up with your brand and how it made a difference in the world.

Janssen's backstory isn't outrageous, but they tell it in a way that won't make your audience feel like they're just another brand.

4. Noticeable differences

Being able to develop a cosmetic formula that is significantly different from all the others is the most satisfying way to stand out from the crowd.

There aren't a lot of breakthrough technologies in the cosmetic field due to the "mature" nature of the science. You may find something if you keep looking.

The first step in creating a product that performs better than all others is identifying the market leaders. Janssen found out which technology offers the best performance by doing some research and putting it to the test.

5. Have a distinctive voice

Brands often speak to their audiences in the same "business" voice. If you use a corporate tone when speaking with consumers, it's not going to help set you apart from your competitors because it's a great way to remain professional. Janssen is professional and memorable for creating a unique voice.

6. Having a unique packaging

Creating unique packaging is crucial to the cosmetics industry since packaging is everything. In other words, your brand is likely to be lost in the muck before it even begins to gain traction.

Here are some tips for making your packaging stand out:

  • Create an Instagram-worthy box by personalizing it
  • Pick colors that are positive and reflect your brand's personality
  • Make sure your packaging is typographically correct and positioned correctly
  • Packaging materials should be eco-friendly and unique
  • Provide customers with a positive experience when they open the packaging

7. Customer engagement

Social media pages should be used for more than just product promotion. Engaging your customers through them is the perfect opportunity.

Janssen asks customers for their top skincare concerns, favorite products, and tips. They give them a chance to provide feedback on products and what they would like to see changed. Your fans will appreciate you taking their opinions seriously and value them if you actively seek out what they want.

8. Marketing to millennials

Most millennial women prefer organic or natural skin care products. The beauty industry is growing - and sustainable products are becoming more popular - so marketing to millennials will become increasingly important.

The millennial generation is the second largest segment of cosmetics consumers after the baby boomers. Compared to 2000, consumers now have a shorter attention span than a goldfish.

When shoppers discover your brand on the shelf, they can interact with it immediately. Furthermore, it allows social media users to share their experiences with your brand, giving you free publicity.

9. A reasonable price

The prices for Janssen products have a reasonable range. As a result of their wide product range and diverse target market, they are considered attainable. It is for this reason that they are considered both high involvement and low involvement purchases.

10. Aiming to attract Gen-Zers

Getting Gen-Z's attention is the key to winning over businesses today. To better reach and interact with its target audience, Benefit collaborates with influencers to provide authenticity.

It is not uncommon for cosmetic companies to partner with beauty influencers to create content showcasing their products on social media. Janssen is one such company. Their 1.4 million strong Instagram community and beyond can be engaged in this way.

The Bottom Line

Creating a brand that stands out in a heavily saturated market may seem impossible, but it is not. Janssen has achieved that.

The right strategies, such as the ones we discussed in this article, are very helpful for making your beauty brand unique.

Make a good living without being the biggest brand in the cosmetics industry. It's just a matter of being different.

Best Products for Post Summer Skin

Posted by Opus Int. on

During the summer months, you are likely to spend a lot more time outdoors, which can increase your risk of sunburn—even when you wear sunscreen.

Your skin will need some serious TLC after a summer spent in the pool, sun, sand, and surf. In addition, summer days often lead to temptations where alcohol and bad eating habits are present.

In the summer, your skin is often sun-damaged, dry, chapped, and clogged with dead skin. It's essential to rehab your skin after spending time in the sun and indulging over the summer.

A light callosity has been built on the callused skin due to the sun. Because of this, the skin is usually rough and flaky and needs more moisture. Moreover, UV radiation creates free radicals and reduces collagen fibers, which support our skin.

It is essential to use one of the best after-sun products in spray, gel, or lotion form to minimize the sting and irritation of overexposed skin and speed up its repair.

If you are considering a formula, look for ingredients that will soothe your skin, such as aloe vera and antioxidants, as well as hydrate your skin with hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and ceramides.

Important Post Summer Tips

Check out these helpful tips for post-summer skin care to help erase the signs of summer.

  • To get silky-smooth skin after a long summer season, use an exfoliating body scrub. Skin can feel smooth and soft after using a gentle body scrub, which removes dead surface skin cells and adds moisture. If you want to address UV damage and promote cell turnover on the face, use a gentle face scrub containing glycolic acid.
  • You might have clogged pores after a few months of sweating and applying sunscreen continuously all summer long. Your complexion is negatively impacted by environmental impurities since you have accumulated oil, makeup, sweat, and dirt over the past few months. To minimize pores and draw out impurities, use a good cleansing mask.
  • Your skin is likely in need of some much-needed hydration after months spent at the pool, beach, and in the sun. Add a rich cream or oil to your daily routine to hydrate parched summer skin. Your skin will benefit from formulas that contain ceramides, retinol, and hyaluronic acid.
  • Your skin tone may become uneven, dark spots may appear, and new freckles may appear at the end of summer. UV rays damage your skin when it is exposed to the sun. Vitamin C serums can help counteract the effects of sun damage. Vitamin C serums improve skin texture and tone while hydrating and smoothing the skin.

Best Products for Post-Summer Skin

1. Light Tightening Cream (50ml)

When the weather gets hot, Light Tightening Cream is the perfect skin care product. Boosts your skin's energy, moisturizes it intensively, and counteracts tiredness.

This energy booster stimulates the metabolism of the skin and makes it more resilient and firmer. Skin receives extra moisture and shine is eliminated even though the texture is light.

2. Vitaforce C Cream (50ml)

Boost radiance and prevent premature skin aging with this highly active anti-aging care. An even and youthful complexion is achieved by reducing age spots, improving skin tone, and brightening the skin.

A deep moisturizing effect is achieved. Vitamin C protects the skin from free radicals through the use of a refreshing and invigorating lemon extract.

Light-induced premature aging of the skin is prevented by vitamin E. It is reviving and toning to use lemon extracts. In the summer, Vitaforce C Cream is ideal because of its fresh fragrance and light consistency.

3. Pro-Immune Serum (30ml)

The serum stabilizes the skin's immune cells to make them more resistant to harmful external influences with active substances.

Allantoin, bisabolol, vitamins C and D, long- and short-chain hyaluronic acid, as well as beta-glucan and ectoine, are present.

Once or twice a day, gently massage serum into your skin. Apply the serum to your neck and the area above it. Apply your usual day or night care product after the serum has been absorbed.

Pro-Immune Serum can also be used with any other care cream based on your skin's needs. However, it is best used with our Anti-Pollution Cream to ensure the best results.

4. Hydro Active Gel (50ml)

Providing a fresh, natural glow, the ultra-light moisturizer hydrates the skin deeply. Moreover, it prevents moisture loss for a long time. By hydrating the skin, Hyaluron reduces wrinkles caused by dryness.

In addition to harmonizing the appearance of the skin by reducing irritations, the gel texture has a pleasingly light texture. Consequently, it is the perfect summer care product to enhance the silky softness of your skin and serve as a super base for make-up.

5. Mild Creamy Cleanser (200ml)

Deeply cleanses and removes dirt and make-up from the skin. By preserving the skin's moisture, unpleasant tension feelings are avoided.

Combining the Radiant Firming Tonic with the rich, gentle cleansing optimizes the skin's preparation for subsequent care.

When wearing heavy make-up, it is recommended to double cleanse with Mild Creamy Cleanser. The cleansing milk should be applied and rinsed off, followed by another application, and washed off with plenty of water.

6. Mild Face Rub (50ml)

To supply the skin with high-quality and nourishing oils, the skin needs to be peeled once or twice a week to loosen dead skin cells. It prevents impurities, refines the skin surface, and allows subsequent care to be absorbed more effectively.

As a result of the gentle peeling, the skin surface is smoothed and noticeable. Skin flakes and superficial cornification are gently removed with jojoba wax beads.

In addition to providing additional care to the skin, the round abrasive particles dissolve during application. It results in smooth, supple skin that appears fresh and rosy.

Conclusion

A summer day can only be complete if you're soaking up the sun. Nevertheless, your skin may disagree. All too often during the summer months, we experience excessive sun exposure, despite the importance of getting enough Vitamin D.

Your skin may be suffering if you've enjoyed long days of sunlight, traveled in planes and cars, and generally enjoyed your daily routine more carefree.

Too much sun exposure and insufficient sun protection lead to dry skin, sun spots, and wrinkles. Now is the perfect time to hydrate, replenish, and restore your skin.

How to Stay Hydrated During the Cold Weather

Posted by Matthew Eng on

Ready for winter? Here are five steps you can take to stay hydrated during the cold weather this season!

Drink plenty of water

It can be easy to forget to drink water during the winter months. We simply don’t feel as thirsty without the heat! Often, we don’t notice that we have allowed ourselves to get dehydrated until we start seeing physical symptoms, such as chapped lips, brain fog, muscle cramps, and sluggish digestion. Staying in a dehydrated state while it’s cold and you are not getting as much vitamin D from the sun also contributes to a weakened immune system. If the thought of chugging cups full of cold water during the winter is not appealing to you, that’s ok, you have other options! Try drinking room temperature water, or even hot water (as herbal tea or with added lemon for flavor). As much as we hope that it would, coffee doesn’t fit into this category, unfortunately, since caffeine is a dehydrator.

Eat hydrating foods

You can add hydrating foods to your diet during the winter to help. Soup is a great option, as it combines the hydration of a nourishing broth with the comfort of a warm, filling meal!

Use a rich moisturizer

Our faces are not the only skin that feels the effects of the cold air! To lock in as much moisture as possible to your skin, try using a rich moisturizer all over your body while your skin is still damp from a shower. Our Isoflavonia body lotion is the perfect choice to retain and add moisture where your skin needs it most. For your face, try our Night Replenisher to help replenish lipids in your skin as you sleep.

Look for extra hydrating ingredients in your skincare, such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin, ceramides, urea, panthenol.

Hyaluronic acid is one of the most powerful hydrating ingredients in skincare. It acts like a sponge, holding moisture molecules in the skin for a long period of time, keeping you hydrated all day long! Because the molecules are smaller and lighter, hyaluronic acid works best when it is used directly against the skin for optimal absorption and then sealed with a heavier moisturizer.

Keep a humidifier going

The dry and often stagnant air from central air furnaces takes a toll on our skin during the winter! We can combat this by keeping a humidifier going in our homes or offices. If space is an issue, you can get personal-sized humidifiers that are perfect for smaller office spaces!

Avoid super hot showers

Hot water can diminish your skin’s natural barrier and cause it to lose hydration and natural oils. This tip is tough to implement since there is nothing better than a long, hot bath on a cold day, but I promise, it makes a difference! If you are like me and simply can’t give up baths, try sticking to no more than once a week to give your skin a chance to replenish its natural oils in between.

By implementing even one or two of these tips, you can be confident that your skin will stay as happy and healthy as possible all winter long!
