Managing Stressful Skin with Janssen Cosmetics

Posted by Matthew Eng on

I think we can all agree that stress is terrible, but do you know what it has to do with your skin? There are 2 ways stress can affect your skin. The stresses of life can disrupt the hormone levels in your body, which can, in turn, show up as damage to your skin. Dryness, dark spots, and breakouts are common signs. External influences stress our skin out more than we realize too! Here’s 5 things that put stress on your skin and how you can combat them with your daily routine.

Tired body, tired skin. The first thing you can do is get a good night's sleep which, I admit, can be difficult when stressed out. Everyone’s sleep needs are different, but aiming for 6-8 hours a night can make a world of difference in how your skin responds to outside stress.

For a truly refreshing experience for tired skin, try our Rejuvenating Mask to soothe your skin while enhancing radiance!

Pollution. The rising amounts of pollution around the world escalate the rate at which our skin cells degenerate. Other than UV damage, pollution is one of the most crucial elements to protect our skin from. Products containing antioxidants, like our Anti-pollution cream can help slow the process of damage caused by pollution. It also contains red camilla extract, a natural compound originating in Japan, to strengthen the skin’s natural barrier and prevent further damage.

Over-exfoliation. The purpose of exfoliation is to remove the very top layer of dead skin cells, revealing the more radiant skin underneath. It also increases your skin’s ability to absorb serums and moisturizers. However, over-exfoliating can cause problems. The main issue it causes is irritation to the more delicate skin layers. It can also cause micro-abrasions in your skin that bacteria can settle in. To prevent this, exfoliate no more than twice a week, using our Brightening Exfoliator, and hydrate well after with a rich moisturizer such as our Night Cream.

Stressed skin can occur in places other than your face too! Try the following products for these common non-facial skin concerns:

Flaky skin: Try the Oxygenating Body Scrub to revitalize and reveal smooth new skin! After your shower, pamper your skin with our Vitaforce Ace Body Cream, enriched with valuable vitamins and shea butter to moisturize and protect.

Dry hands: Try our Hand Care Cream to refresh your stressed hands and cuticles, while protecting them all day long!

Stretch marks: Full of nourishing oils and vitamins, our Stretch Mark Cream is a must to soothe and strengthen your skin!

Decolletage: Looking to firm the skin around your bust, while minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles? Look no further! Our Perfect Bust Formula combines the best ingredients available, including algae bioferment to improve the elasticity of your skin, mangosteen to stimulate the natural lipids under the skin, and hyaluronic acid to improve hydration.

Even implementing a couple of these steps can help ensure that your skin stays healthy no matter what life throws at it.
